Indiana’s Most Dangerous Roads: I-65 Wrecks & Other Indiana Accidents

Indiana has more than 96,000 miles of public road. Yet, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation’s (INDOT) latest Five Percent Report, Interstate 65 (I-65) consistently ranks among the most dangerous—and understandably so.

Every month, Indiana’s reported traffic accidents, especially those involving fatalities, tend to concentrate along the I-65 corridor.

During December 2014 alone:

  • An I-65 wreck of a semitrailer-truck blocked northbound lanes for 2 hours when the driver of the semi fell asleep at the wheel. The trailer was described as a total loss, and its cargo was tossed into the road. The truck itself also sustained heavy damage (12/04/14).
  • A driver crashed her car into a semi-truck when she was driving the wrong way on I-65 (12/06/14).
  • A 4-car accident on the I-65 stretch through Tippecanoe County sent 2 persons to a local Lafayette hospital (12/07/14).
  • A truck hit a guardrail and rolled several times on I-65 in Shelby County, killing the 37-year-old driver and injuring his 2 sons—one critically (12/08/14).
  • Near I-65’s Keystone exit in Indianapolis, 2 cars crashed when a speeding driver rear-ended another vehicle, forcing it into a concrete median with explosive impact (12/10/14).

If you or a loved one has been a victim of negligent driving resulting in an I-65 accident or an accident on any Indiana road, you should contact an experienced and knowledgeable car accident lawyer who can investigate your circumstances and help explain your legal rights and responsibilities.
