Having an autopsy performed right after the death of a loved one is the farthest thing from the mind, but challenging the cause of death is one of the first things that comes to the attention of the insurance company. For example, while your loved one’s doctor may say the cause was heart attack, the insurance company may learn that the loved one was taking medication and try to blame the death on the medication. A forensic autopsy performed by a competent forensic pathologist goes a long way in determining the cause of death. A death certificate, alone, is not enough.
