Wayne County, Indiana (July 21, 2026) – The Wayne County Coroner’s Office confirmed that a 25-year-old Muncie man died after a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning, with a passenger transported to a hospital for treatment.
First responders were dispatched around 1:40 a.m. to the area of North U.S. 35 and State Road 1, northwest of Economy, for a reported crash, according to a release from the coroner’s office.
The driver, identified as William Heath III, was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner’s office determined Heath died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The passenger was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, and toxicology testing has been ordered.
