Clinton County, IN (September 19, 2026) – A 76-year-old Michigantown man died and a woman was injured after a head-on crash on State Road 29 Saturday, and a Kokomo man has been arrested, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the 4500 block of State Road 29 after an automated crash-detection alert and multiple 911 calls reported a two-vehicle head-on crash.
A preliminary investigation found that a blue Chevrolet Cruze driven by 28-year-old Quinton Landrum of Kokomo was heading south on State Road 29 when the Cruze crossed the center line and struck a blue Toyota Prius heading north, driven by 76-year-old Virgil Richardson of Michigantown.
Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene. The Prius passenger was transported to a hospital in Indianapolis in stable condition.
Landrum was also taken to the hospital for injuries from the crash, and an operating-while-intoxicated investigation was opened. After his release from the hospital, Landrum was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in death, a Level 4 felony, and reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony.
The crash remains under investigation.
