Greene County, IN – Two Drivers Hospitalized After Three-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi on State Road 54

Two Drivers Hospitalized After Three-Vehicle Crash

Greene County, IN (October 29, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash involving a semi-tractor-trailer on State Road 54 left two people hospitalized. The crash happened around 7:53 a.m. on October 29 near the intersection of West State Road 54 and North County Road 250 West.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the semi was attempting a left-hand turn onto County Road 250 West. While the semi was stopped to make the turn, a 2011 Dodge Durango failed to stop in traffic, officials said.

The Durango collided with the rear of a Kia Sorento stopped behind the semi, pushing the Kia into the rear of the semi-trailer.

The driver of the Kia, from Bloomfield, and the driver of the Durango, from Oaktown, were taken to a local hospital with injuries. The extent of the injuries has not been reported. The sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

What to Do After a Three-Vehicle Crash in Greene County, IN

Indiana insurers must make uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage available on auto liability policies (IC 27-7-5-2). That can matter when several drivers and policies are involved.

  1. Get evaluated the same day, even without pain. Whiplash, concussion, and internal injuries can surface hours or days later, so keep every medical record and missed-work record.
  2. Ask the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for the crash report number. Photograph all three vehicles, the intersection, and your injuries, and collect witness names. Do not repair your vehicle until the damage is documented.
  3. Report the crash to your own insurer. Do not give a recorded statement to another driver’s insurer. In a chain-reaction crash, more than one policy may apply, including your own coverage. Keep any call with another driver’s insurer brief and factual, and consider speaking with an attorney first.
  4. Know how fault works. Fault in a multi-vehicle crash can be shared or disputed, and each insurer may tell a different story. Indiana bars recovery only when your share of fault is greater than the combined fault of everyone else (IC 34-51-2-6).
  5. Calendar the deadline. Indiana generally allows two years to file a personal injury claim (IC 34-11-2-4), which for an October 29, 2026 crash is October 29, 2028.
