Greenwood, IN - Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Crash With Semi-Truck at the intersection of Emerson Avenue and Grassy Creek Lane

Greenwood, IN (June 27, 2026) – Greenwood police were called to the intersection of Emerson Avenue and Grassy Creek Lane on June 27 to investigate a crash, according to the Greenwood Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a semi-truck and a motorcycle had been involved in a crash, GPD said.

The motorcyclist was taken to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment, according to police. As of this report, police have not released an update on the motorcyclist’s condition. The semi-truck’s driver was not seriously injured, GPD said.

GPD’s crash investigators were called to the scene to examine it further. Police expect a full report within a few days, according to the department.
No additional details, including the exact time of the crash, were available as of this report.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

A crash that puts a motorcyclist in the hospital can leave them facing serious medical bills before anyone has even determined what happened.

Motorcycle Accidents Involving Semi-Trucks in Indiana

A crash between a motorcycle and a semi-truck often involves more than one potentially liable party, and an investigation like this one can take time to sort out.

  • See a doctor right away, even if you feel okay. Adrenaline can mask injuries after a crash.
  • Avoid giving a statement to the trucking company’s insurer before talking to an attorney.
  • Preserve the crash report number and any photos, since GPD’s full report is still pending.
  • Do not accept a settlement before an attorney reviews it.

Because the cause of this crash has not been released, fault has not been determined. Indiana follows a modified comparative fault standard, meaning a rider can still recover compensation as long as they were less than 51 percent at fault.

Trucking companies can also be held responsible for a driver’s actions, separate from the driver himself, under Indiana law.

Indiana law generally gives injured people two years from the date of a crash to file a personal injury claim (IC 34-11-2-4). For a crash on June 27, 2026, that deadline falls on June 27, 2028.
