Lance Lamar Anderson, 60, Dies After Two-Car Crash

Indianapolis, IN (October 25, 2026) – A 60-year-old man identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as Lance Lamar Anderson died after a two-car crash on the northeast side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

Police said the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on October 25 near East 46th Street and East Fall Creek Parkway North Drive. Two cars were involved, and each carried two people.

According to IMPD, all four people were taken to the hospital, and one later died. IMPD’s fatal crash investigation team is investigating the crash.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

What Families Ask After a Fatal Car Crash in Marion County

The Indiana University Public Policy Institute’s Indiana Crash Facts 2024 reported 872 traffic deaths on Indiana roads in 2024. Each one leaves a family with practical questions about what comes next.

Who can be held responsible when police have not said who caused the crash?

Possibly more than one party. Investigators look at both drivers, the vehicles, and the road, and the answer can change once the crash report is complete. Early reports should not be treated as a finding of fault.

What if my loved one was partly at fault?

Indiana follows modified comparative fault. A family can recover only if the loved one was less than 51 percent at fault, and any award is reduced by that share.

Can the family file a claim after a fatal crash?

Yes. Indiana law allows a wrongful death claim for the family’s losses, and the estate may also bring a survival claim for what the person went through before death.

How long does the family have to file in Indiana?

Wrongful death claims in Indiana must generally be filed within two years of the date of death (IC 34-23-1-1). For a death on October 25, 2026, that date is October 25, 2028.

What should the family do first?

Ask IMPD for the crash report number, ask that both cars be held and not released for salvage, and save every medical and funeral bill. Send insurance calls to a lawyer, and avoid posting about the crash online.
