Indianapolis, IN (August 19, 2026) – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 7600 block of Madison Avenue at about 5:54 p.m. on the evening of August 19, according to IMPD.
Emergency crews took a woman involved in the crash to an area hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries, police said.
IMPD’s fatal crash investigation team has taken over the case. As of about 7 p.m. that evening, investigators said they did not believe driver intoxication played a role in the crash. All three drivers stayed at the scene and are cooperating, according to IMPD.
Police closed Madison Avenue in both directions between East Stop 10 Road and Brewer Drive for several hours while the investigation continued at the scene.
