Wayne County, IN (August 24, 2026) – A semi-tractor trailer driver was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries Monday afternoon after a chain-reaction crash involving two semis and two school buses shut down eastbound Interstate 70 in Wayne County, according to Indiana State Police.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on eastbound I-70 between Wilbur Wright Road and the Dublin Pike overpass. ISP said one semi rear-ended a second semi, pushing it into the two school buses.
Troopers said neither bus was affiliated with a school district and no students were aboard either one. One bus driver was treated for a leg injury.
Eastbound traffic was diverted off the interstate at Exit 131 while crews cleared the scene. ISP has not released the drivers’ names or additional details on what led to the initial rear-end collision.
