Goshen, Indiana (September 29, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized after a pickup and a car collided outside Goshen, according to Elkhart County deputies. The crash was at County Road 11 and County Road 30 at 12:30 p.m. on September 29.
Deputies say a 68-year-old Goshen driver was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. A 20-year-old driver from Elkhart was headed west on County Road 30 in a 2018 Toyota Camry, approaching County Road 11.
Police said the pickup driver made an unsafe start into the intersection and crashed into the Camry. The pickup driver was taken to Goshen Hospital by family with a complaint of pain. A passenger in the pickup was also hospitalized with chest and lower back pain.
The condition of the Camry driver was not reported.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Intersection Crashes in Elkhart County, Indiana
When a crash happens at a stop-controlled intersection, the details of who entered first and who had the right of way decide most of the claim. Speaking with an Indiana car accident lawyer early helps protect those details before they fade.
- See a doctor today, even if the pain seems manageable, and keep every record of your care
- Do not give a recorded statement to any insurance company before you have legal advice
- Preserve evidence, including photographs of the intersection, the vehicle damage, the sheriff’s crash report, and the names of any witnesses
- Do not accept a settlement offer until an attorney has reviewed it
Deputies attribute the crash to the pickup driver’s unsafe start, but a news report does not decide fault. Different rules can apply to drivers and to passengers, so each person’s claim should be reviewed on its own.
Indiana follows a modified comparative fault rule. A person may still recover compensation if they are found no more than 50% at fault (IC 34-51-2-6).
This crash occurred on September 29, 2026. Indiana personal injury claims must generally be filed within two years of the date of the crash (IC 34-11-2-4). That puts the deadline at September 29, 2028.
