Roselawn, IN – Pregnant Woman Rescued From Overturned Vehicle in I-65 Rollover Crash

Pregnant Woman Rescued From Overturned Vehicle

Roselawn, IN (November 1, 2026) – Two off-duty troopers pulled a pregnant woman from an overturned vehicle on Interstate 65 near the Roselawn exit, the Indiana State Police Lowell Post said.

One vehicle, carrying the pregnant woman, rolled over in the crash on the afternoon of November 1. Police said she was pinned inside as the vehicle was smoking and on the verge of catching fire.

Troopers Israel and Jordin Rosillo were off duty and traveling along I-65 when the crash occurred, police said. They climbed into the vehicle and pulled her to safety before it caught fire or she was overcome by smoke.

She was promptly taken to Franciscan Health Hospital in Crown Point for emergency treatment. Authorities did not immediately provide details about her condition or the condition of her unborn child.

Photographs shared by Indiana State Police show the severely damaged vehicle resting upside down along the interstate, with thick white smoke rising from the wreckage. No information on the circumstances of the crash was available for release. Details on whether other vehicles were involved and how long traffic was affected had not been provided.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

Rollover Crash Claims in Indiana When the Cause Is Not Yet Known

NHTSA’s 2023 data show that the share of fatalities in vehicles that rolled over ranged from 20% for passenger cars to 38% for pickups. Claims after a rollover usually begin with one question: why did the vehicle leave its path?

Investigators generally look at the road surface, signage, tires, brakes, weather, and any vehicle that may have forced a driver off course. Indiana bars recovery for anyone found more than 50% at fault, so the cause matters.

  • First steps: Anyone in a rollover, including a pregnant occupant, should be evaluated even without obvious injury. Request the crash report from the Indiana State Police and keep the vehicle unrepaired until it can be inspected.
  • Who may be liable: That depends on a cause that has not been reported. Possibilities include another driver, a vehicle or tire defect, or the agency responsible for the road.
  • Deadlines: Indiana’s two-year limit for injury claims (IC 34-11-2-4) puts the filing deadline at November 1, 2028. If a public road condition played a part, written notice is due much sooner. For state roads, notice is due by July 29, 2027 (IC 34-13-3-6). For city and county roads, it is due by April 30, 2027 (IC 34-13-3-8).
