Fort Wayne, IN – Injuries Reported in Northbound I-69 Crash Near Dupont Road

Injuries Reported in Northbound I-69 Crash

Fort Wayne, IN (November 2, 2026) – Around 6:45 a.m. on November 2, first responders were called to a crash on northbound Interstate 69 near the Dupont Road exit, according to dispatchers. The crash was reported at mile marker 316 on Fort Wayne’s north side.

Dispatchers said injuries were reported, though the conditions of those hurt were not immediately available. The far-left lane of the highway was to be closed while crews responded to the scene.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

Next Steps After an I-69 Crash in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Indiana Crash Facts 2024, published by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, counts 872 traffic deaths in the state in 2024. Anyone hurt in a highway crash can protect a possible claim by acting in this order.

  1. Get evaluated the same day, even without pain. Whiplash, concussion, and internal injuries can surface hours or days later, so watch for headache, neck stiffness, numbness, and abdominal pain.
  2. Request the crash report number from the responding agency. Photograph the vehicles before they are towed, along with the scene and any injuries, and save the names of witnesses.
  3. Report the crash to your own insurer, but do not give a recorded statement to another driver’s insurer. Depending on what investigators find, liable parties may include another driver, an employer if a work vehicle was involved, or a vehicle maker.
  4. Keep every medical bill and missed-work record, since they support the value of the claim.
  5. File within two years. Indiana law (IC 34-11-2-4) puts the deadline for a November 2, 2026 crash at November 2, 2028. Indiana also bars recovery for anyone found more than 50% at fault, so early evidence on fault matters.
