Pierceton, IN (August 16, 2026) – A semi-truck driver died Sunday night after his truck crashed into two other semis stopped at the intersection of U.S. 30 and State Road 13, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded around 8:15 p.m. on the evening of August 16 to the intersection in the town of Pierceton.
An initial investigation found that two semis were stopped at the intersection when a third semi crashed into the back of one of them and kept going, striking the second stopped semi.
The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office identified the driver who died as 65-year-old Richard Bacorn of Orland Park, Illinois. The drivers of the two stopped semis, one from Fort Wayne and one from Zanesville, Ohio, were not hurt.
Investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash, including whether Bacorn may have experienced a medical event.
