Plymouth, IN (September 22, 2026) – A semi driver was airlifted to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Oak Drive in Plymouth, according to police.
Police said the crash happened just after 7 a.m. on the morning of September 22, when a westbound semi on U.S. 30 rear-ended two vehicles.
It took crews about an hour to free the semi driver from the truck, according to police.
The drivers of the other two vehicles were checked at the scene and are expected to be okay.
Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management worked to clean up the crash, including oil that spilled onto the roadway. All of the vehicles were towed from the scene.
Nearby bridge construction has narrowed part of U.S. 30 to one lane, and the Plymouth Police Department says the intersection has seen crashes before.
The Plymouth Police Department is investigating the crash.
This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.
Semi-Truck Accidents in Indiana
Commercial vehicle crashes often involve more than one responsible party, and the evidence that proves it does not last forever.
- Who may be liable: the truck driver, the trucking company that owns or dispatches the semi, and any party responsible for the construction zone or roadway conditions
- What investigators examine: the truck’s electronic logging data, driver hours-of-service records, maintenance history, and conditions at the intersection, including the nearby lane closure
- Because the cause of this crash has not been determined, Indiana’s modified comparative fault law lets an injured person recover as long as they were less than 51% at fault
- Personal injury claims in Indiana generally must be filed within two years of the crash (IC 34-11-2-4), which puts the deadline at September 22, 2028
