Garrett, IN (September 10, 2026) – At 2:41 p.m. on September 10, 2026, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of C.R. 68 and C.R. 327 that sent two Kendallville residents to area hospitals.
According to the sheriff’s office, Kenosha Fernandez, 34, was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion south on C.R. 327 with a 15-year-old passenger in the front seat.
Police said a 2007 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Michael Roehm, 58, of Garrett, was stopped for a stop sign on C.R. 68 at C.R. 327 and pulled out into the intersection, striking the Fernandez vehicle.
Fernandez complained of chest pain and sustained a nosebleed. The 15-year-old passenger suffered a possible broken arm. Both were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation. Roehm was not injured.
The Fernandez vehicle came to rest in a field southeast of the intersection. The Sebring sustained heavy driver’s side damage, and the Fusion sustained heavy front-end damage.
County police were assisted by the Indiana State Police, the Auburn and Garrett police departments, LaOtto Fire Department, Parkview EMS, and DeKalb County Central Communications.
