Monroe County, IN (September 9, 2026) – A 19-year-old woman from Medora died, and an 18-year-old man from Franklin was airlifted to the hospital after a single-car crash in the early hours of September 9, 2026, on State Road 446 near Allens Creek Road, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.
The MCSO Major Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene near the Charles Deam Wilderness at around 1:30 a.m.
The driver, an 18-year-old man from Franklin, was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. His 19-year-old female passenger, from Medora, died at the scene.
Authorities have not released the identities of the individuals involved. Police say they are working to determine the cause of the crash.
