Greensburg, IN – 76-Year-Old Man Killed in Crash at Kova Fertilizer on North Anderson Street

Greensburg, IN - 76-Year-Old Man Killed in Crash at Kova Fertilizer on North Anderson Street

Greensburg, IN (Mar 20, 2026) – A fatal crash occurred at Kova Fertilizer, located at 1330 North Anderson Street in Greensburg, Indiana, on the afternoon of Friday, March 20, 2026.

According to the Greensburg Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 2:15 p.m. following reports of a crash in the area. Upon arrival, police located a damaged vehicle and found the driver, 76-year-old Michael Linville of Greensburg, inside.

Linville was transported to Decatur County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger inside the vehicle at the time of the crash did not suffer any injuries.

Preliminary information from GPD indicates that Linville’s vehicle was traveling southbound when it left Carver Street, struck three parked vehicles, and then collided with the building. The Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, and Decatur County EMS also responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash has not been officially determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.

If Your Family Was Affected by This Crash, Your Rights Matter

Losing a loved one in a sudden crash is an overwhelming experience. Most families are focused on grief in the days that follow – not legal rights. But the decisions made in these early weeks can determine whether your family ever receives the accountability and compensation it deserves.
Here is what Indiana families need to know right now.

4 Steps to Take After a Fatal Crash in Indiana

  1. Do not assume the investigation is complete. Preliminary crash reports are exactly that – preliminary. Contributing factors such as road conditions, vehicle defects, or other circumstances may only emerge after a full investigation. Do not accept the initial narrative as final without speaking to an attorney.
    • Preserve all evidence immediately. Do not authorize the vehicle to be repaired, scrapped, or released – it is physical evidence
    • Request the official police report from the Greensburg Police Department
    • Keep all records of crash-related expenses, including funeral and medical costs
  2. Know what a wrongful death claim can cover. Indiana law allows surviving family members to pursue a wrongful death claim when a death results from another party’s negligence. Recoverable compensation can include funeral expenses, lost financial support, and loss of companionship.
  3. Talk to an attorney before speaking to any insurance company. Adjusters may contact your family quickly. Do not sign anything or accept any settlement before getting legal advice – early offers almost always fall short of what families are truly owed.

Indiana’s deadline: Wrongful death claims in Indiana must generally be filed within two years of the date of death (IC 34-23-1-1). Acting early protects your evidence and preserves your legal options.
