Indianapolis, IN (Dec 22, 2025) – A fatal two-car collision claimed the life of one driver on the city’s east side Monday afternoon. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the scene near the intersection of South Arlington Avenue and Terrance Avenue at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of one of the vehicles involved was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where they later passed away. The second driver remained at the scene and is currently cooperating with investigators.
IMPD detectives noted that they are investigating the possibility that the deceased driver may have suffered a medical emergency immediately before the crash. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed by medical examiners.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
What to do After a Car Accident in Indiana, IN?
First, always call 911 to ensure a formal police report is generated. Even if you believe you are uninjured, you should seek a medical evaluation immediately, as the adrenaline from a collision often masks serious injuries like internal bleeding or concussions.
Because Indiana operates under a “fault” system, the responsible driver is liable for damages. However, insurance companies may attempt to deny claims by citing “sudden medical emergencies” or shifting blame to the victim. To protect your interests, you must document the scene with photos, collect witness contact information, and avoid making statements regarding fault. To ensure you are treated fairly, it is vital to discuss your case with a qualified legal professional handling car accident claims in Indiana.
