Indianapolis, IN (December 25, 2025) – A tragic two-car collision claimed the life of at least one person early Christmas morning on the east side of Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to the scene at the intersection of North Mitthoefer Road and John Marshall Drive North, near 38th Street, at approximately 2:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed that one individual involved in the crash had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending the formal notification of next of kin by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
The IMPD fatal crash team was called to the scene to lead the investigation into the cause of the collision. The intersection remained closed for several hours while investigators mapped the scene and gathered evidence.
