Jackson County, IN (Dec 30, 2025) – At least one person was injured yesterday night following a series of four separate vehicle collisions on Interstate 65 southbound.
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Indiana State Police (ISP) reported that the accidents occurred between mile markers 49 and 41, a stretch of highway between Seymour and Crothersville.
Emergency responders from the ISP Versailles district were called to the scene to provide medical aid and investigate the multiple crash sites. While authorities have confirmed that at least one individual sustained injuries, further details regarding the severity of those injuries or the total number of people involved have not yet been made public.
Troopers worked through the night to process the scenes, though early investigations were hampered by darkness. The cause of the string of accidents remains under active investigation.
Vehicle Accidents on I-65 in Indiana
Interstate 65 is one of Indiana’s most hazardous corridors, frequently seeing complex multi-vehicle pileups at high-risk hubs like the Indianapolis “splits,” the 38th Street corridor, and the US-231 interchange. High commercial truck volume and unpredictable road conditions often lead to severe chain-reaction crashes, such as the recent string of four separate collisions in Jackson County between mile markers 41 and 49.
Navigating the legal aftermath of an I-65 crash is difficult due to Indiana’s two-year statute of limitations and the much shorter 180 or 270-day notice requirements for claims involving government entities. Proving liability in these cases relies on complex “black box” and dashcam analysis to satisfy Indiana’s 51% fault bar, which ensures that victims of high-speed accidents are not unfairly denied compensation by insurance companies attempting to shift blame.
