Allen County, IN (Jan 03, 2026) – A passenger is in life-threatening condition following a two-vehicle rollover accident on Saturday morning on U.S. 27 South. The accident happened near Flatrock Road at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Preliminary findings indicate that a passenger car and an SUV were both traveling northbound on U.S. 27 South when the SUV rear-ended the car. The force of the impact caused the passenger car to overturn.
While both drivers were treated at the scene for their injuries, a passenger in the car sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. Investigators believe that both speed and distracted driving were contributing factors in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
Car Accidents in Allen County, IN
Car accidents in Allen County frequently occur at high-speed junctions like U.S. 27 South and Flatrock Road and along major corridors such as I-69 and U.S. 30. These incidents are most commonly caused by distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield, which often lead to high-impact rollovers or rear-end collisions. At busy intersections, disregarding traffic signals and following too closely remain leading factors in serious injury outcomes.
Under Indiana Code § 34-11-2-4, the statute of limitations for personal injury or wrongful death is two years. If a government vehicle or roadway defect is involved, a Tort Claim Notice must be filed within 180 days (municipal) or 270 days (state). Because Indiana uses modified comparative negligence, insurers may try to shift blame to the victim to avoid payment.
