Tippecanoe County, IN (Jan 20, 2026) – An accident occurred Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 65, involving three semi-trucks in the southbound lanes north of the Indiana 25 exit. The incident took place approximately 30 minutes after an initial fatal pickup truck crash had already caused significant traffic backups in the area.
According to reports from the Tippecanoe County Coroner and investigating officers, a southbound semi-tractor with a trailer crashed into two other semi-trucks that had slowed or come to a stop due to the existing traffic congestion.
The driver of the striking semi-tractor was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. As of now, the identity of the deceased driver has not been released.
The drivers of the other two semi-trucks involved were not injured, and no additional injuries were reported from the scene.
The Indiana State Police continue to investigate the chain of events leading to the collision to determine the exact cause.
