Woman, 43, struck and killed in Indianapolis hit-and-run collision

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Authorities are trying to track down the driver who struck and killed a woman in Indianapolis on Saturday night, reports WTHR.

The incident occurred in the area of East Washington Street and North Rural Street on the city’s east side, where police arrived at about 7:20 p.m.  The woman had been trying to cross the street to a bus stop when she was hit by a vehicle, a friend said.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Emily Sue Martinez, died after being transported to an area hospital.

 The driver involved fled the scene of the crash.  Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run was asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
